OK, so I have never seen this show (other than a few snippets on the soup). My wife and I have watched this about 10 times and cant help but laugh hysterically every time. Its the new hotness!

I came across this NPR story last week. Yes, I listen to NPR. Sometimes. Shush. Anyway, I didn’t actually hear it firstNPR. I don’t recall where I saw it first, but it’s since been spread around quite a bit. The first thing that comes to mind is: Holy Shit! 17 years?!? It’s been 17 years since “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and the baby on the cover is all growneds up.
I, myself, was 17 when I first heard Nevermind. It was one of the CDs that really got me into enjoying music. Particularly, “heavier” sounding music. The first concert me and Brandtidos caught together was Nirvana in Dayton in ‘93. Hell of a show.
But I don’t know what to think of the kid. My first instinct was to write him off as a douche bag. Then, I remembered he’s just 17. I thought back to how I was at 17. I wouldn’t use douche bag to describe myself, but I was far from perfect. I had a tendency to unnecessarily raise my voice when talking to my parents. As if, volume lends verity to anything said.
I’ll give the kid the benefit of the doubt until he has a little more time to mature. What do you think?

As the “art guy”, I know I haven’t really spoken up much, but I felt I had to say it:
THANK YOU Pandora! For months, I had been hoping to see an update including flash for my iPhone. Just for the mere fact that I would be able to run Pandora on-the-go. When I saw the Pandora Application listed from iTunes, my eyeballs nearly popped out of my skull. My own personalized stations in the palm of my hand! Anywhere and everywhere. Even better, its FREE!

Well, either no one noticed, or no one cared. If it’s the latter: ..I..
;-) What went by the wayside is Cade has started an actual blog. When we were making our plans for this comic, I have this crazy notion to blog as the characters. However, there’s always the problem related by our last comic: writer’s block. How much of a problem will this be? Is there really anything interesting to come from a character’s blog?
The answer to both is: I don’t know. But I really want to find out. So… Cade’s blog is live. I’ll endeavor to make at least one update to it per week, but we’ll see what happens.
Because we, at Failed Objective, care about our readers…
If you have no hair on your head — shaved, bald… whatever — be sure to keep it covered when you go outside. Barring coverage, apply liberal amounts of sunscreen.
I went to Illinois with my parents this weekend to visit family. On Saturday, I spent way too much time out in the sun without protection for my hairless noggin. My braincase was a purdy shade of red Sunday. Even today, I still have a bit of color.
You have been warned.
Because I can’t seem to keep my mouth shut on a release day…
I took a happy little screenshot yesterday:

OK. So our traffic is pretty much teh suxxors. It’s only the first month. We expect the numbers to go up as we improve and word spreads. So, spread!
Brandtidos shared this with me today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_PS/1
We both had one of these. I believe we both had the 2153 model. This was the first computer I bought and it was the Spring of 1994.
We went to Circuit City and they refused me financing. I don’t think I yet had a credit card — and I’d never taken out a loan — so I hadn’t established a credit history by this time. This was about the time I changed my career ambitions from accounting to something involving computers. I used that as justification for cleaning out one of my savings accounts to buy the computer outright.
Predictably, the computer ended up being mostly used for games. However, you ended up learning quite a bit about computers in trying to make DOS games run back then. As much as Windows gets maligned, it allows me to much more easily waste time than in the dark days of DOS.
Ahhhhh… memories. Anyway, that link led me to the IBM Archives. This is when my world came crashing down and I was reduced to a quivering glob of bio-matter. IBM has the computer labeled as “vintage.” Has it been that long? Am I really that old? I think I’ll go scope out the latest in walkers.
Screw you, in advance, for any “smart” comments.
As we say in our about page, we’ll post new comics when we’re done crapping them out. Well, sometimes we fire out a great big steaming pile. Such was the case with yesterday’s comic. But just like if a hobo came and dropped a load on your stoop, we cleaned that shit up. However, we also invited the derelict in and fed him a proper meal so he can plop out a new and improved nugget for your enjoyment.
Really, the “joke” stays the same. It’s just presented much better and with the correct characters. Check it out, if you’re so inclined.
Unfortunately, today’s comic didn’t turn out quite how we wanted. Anoroc was rushing to complete it last night and I didn’t get a chance to see it before it was posted. He’ll work on a new version of it tonight which should be posted by tomorrow. Until then, we’re leaving the borked one up.
I bought “Float“, by Flogging Molly this past weekend. I’ve been listening to it through the week and find myself liking it. Because of the varying tempos of the songs, this will not be a CD that ever sees the CD player in my car. I only put CDs that are completely up-tempo in the car. However, the mix is good for just sitting and chilling. This CD is also excellent for playing in bars
For those of you unfamiliar with Flogging Molly’s music, it has a heavy Irish influence — including the use of traditionals Irish instruments. Among the standard contemporary band instrumentation, on “Float” you’ll find bodhran, accordian, concertina, violin, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, mandola, mandolin, and banjo (yeah, I had to look half of those up to know what they are). Besides the Irish influence, you’ll find influences from rock, punk, country, and I’m sure other styles I’m unable to pick out.
This album — and the band — get my seal of approval.
